A Caste Certificate is the proof of one's belonging to a particular caste, especially in case one belongs to any of the
'Scheduled Castes', as specified in the Indian Constitution.
The Indian system of Protective Discrimination,
there exist certain special privileges granted to this category of citizens, such as reservation of seats in the Legislatures
and in the Government Service, waiving off a part or the whole of the fees for admission to schools and colleges, quotas in
educational institutions, relaxation of upper age limits for applying to certain jobs, etc.
Papers/Documents Required
Application form duly attested by M.L.A., M.P., Municipal Councillors or Gazetted Officers.
Copy of Ration Card or other Proof of Residence.
Birth Certificate or School Certificate showing date of birth or if applicant is illiterate, an affidavit declaring age.
An affidavit declaring name, father's name, residential address, period of residence in Delhi & caste, attested by oath
commissioner/notary public.
In case the applicant is a married woman, proof of residential address before marriage.
Copy of SC Certificate of father/brother/sister, if any.
Where no SC/ST Certificate has been issued to any member of the applicant's family, two witnesses who are Government servants
are required to give in writing that they know the person and his caste,
along with attested copies of their identity cards.
OBTAIN CASTE CERTIFICATE: DELHI
In case of persons who have been living residing in Delhi since 20.09.51, and in case of their children, the procedure of issuance
of SC/ST certificate is as follows:

SDM of the concerned area; or

Procedure
In case the applicant is a permanent resident of Delhi and has appended a copy of SC/ST certificate issued to any member of his
family, no local inquiry is conducted. In such a case, verification is done from the record available in the office of the SDM or the
CCS branch in the office of the Divisional Commissioner. Where the record is not available in the office of the SDM or the CCS branch,
a local inquiry is conducted.
In case no member of the applicant's family has been issued a certificate earlier, a local inquiry is conducted

In the case of a married woman, the local inquiry is conducted at the place of residence prior to marriage, as well as at the place
of residence after marriage.
Such a certificate cannot be issued to a person if he is already in possession of such a certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
